Small Spaces: Big Impact & Well-Being

Small Spaces: Big Impact To Well-Being

New clients that come to me initially are apprehensive their spaces are “small.” This is the conversation starter with me applying my adage “No space is too small to transform!
My response is also to let them know “their spaces are actually not small, but in reality BIG to them!”

This Redwood City client’s condominium has a lovely inviting entrance with the tranquility of established redwood trees around the perimeter. Upon entering their unit you see it’s in an ideal location with an eye catching lakeside vista. Water has a calming effect on the mind. Almost immediately the sight and sound of water vista can help reduce stress, and promote a sense of well-being.  The visual enjoyment of the various ducks, the resident Egret, who is the boss of the lake, and the fountain in the center of the lake can be seen from the living room patio further enhancing the tranquil feeling.

Huge thanks to Wegman’s Nursery in Redwood City https://www.wegmansnursery.com for referring me to this new client.  Upon meeting Beverly she told me about her life long love of plants. She is very experienced and knowledgable but now wants to delegate her seasonal updates to me.  She enjoys the different views of her outdoor places from the inside and sitting in her 3 separate porch seating areas. It became clear to me the way to go was with repurposing her containers due to the existing hardscape and established Redwood tree roots.

The work began. I rearranged her existing containers and elevated her existing fountain. I added beauty to every corner maximizing the functionality of even the smallest outdoor spaces. Small spaces with specific needs and preferences can be transformed  into attractive and inviting spaces. Curling up with a book, enjoying her morning tea, entertaining  neighbors and friends, and being able to always view the garden spaces from inside the living room, office or bedroom was accomplished.

Refreshing Beverly’s outdoor sanctuary with new plants has improved her special place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
