Front Garden Entrance is Now Making a Grand Entrance!
This front entrance had lost its appeal when my client contacted me in February 2021. Ready for an update after a long overdue planting from decades ago installations in various iterations.
My client and I determined extending the existing narrow front doorstep would have many benefits. Enlarging this original width for a safer, and proportioned landing to the scale of the house.
Subtle to the eye, yet a dramatic improvement
A more continuous aesthetic look removing the existing weathered flagstone and extending the front landing with new “old” bricks that match the old bricks.
Adding new bricks in a new Herringbone pattern to the existing shorter entrance created a more proportional balance to the Double Farm door.
This full sun perimeter required Adding perennials that tolerate hot all afternoon sun.
Exciting to anticipate how all the modern and beautiful hues of purples and yellows, with the varieties of complementing textures in plants leaves and the flora will bring vibrant blooms. All carefully hand selected to especially spotlight the The Showstopper stunning edition of the new specimen Yellow Magnolia tree!
Beautiful flowers mingling with the boxwood border framing the driveway and new plantings.
Favorite flowers of Lupine and Roses at the front door for enhancing their entrance while maintaining four seasons of planting interests:
ROSE — Plum Perfect Sunbelt
Lupinus ‘Staircase Blue Lupine’
Buddleja Davidii ‘Harlequin’
Fothergilla ‘Mount Airy’ & Salvia ‘May Night’
Nemesia ‘Honey Dark Purple’
Euphorbia ‘Purpurea’
Armeria maritima ‘Alba’ (Common Thrift) w/ Nigella hispanica ‘African Bride’
Eriostemon myoporoides ‘Profusion’
